May 2014 - One week away from Wellesley High School graduation.
Four best friends sat next to each other at a family BBQ. Between bites they talked about their plans for that summer, and how they were going to save up money for their college (and girlfriend related) expenses. When they all went into the kitchen for seconds, a friend's mother asked the group if they were around to help her move some furniture that weekend. They accepted the challenge.
The job that weekend went well. Satisfied with their work, she pulled out some cash from her pocket. They said that wasn't necessary, but she insisted. "You guys were amazing, I've needed an extra hand for some time now, and I'm so happy to have found you guys." On their way out, she asked if they were willing to help her friend out with a similar task later that week, again they gratefully accepted. The second job went just as well, which led to another satisfied neighbor, and then another referral, and another… and another.
After three weeks of odd jobs for the neighborhood, they realized there was a huge demand for an extra hand around the house. Instead of laying by the pool that summer, the group of young men sat down and created a company dedicated to serving the needs of busy Boston families. This is when An Extra Hand was born.
An Extra Hand is a service that specializes in stress-free moving, junk removal, and odd job’s. The company is based in Wellesley, Massachusetts and is owned and operated by Wellesley High School Alumni. The company's purpose is to make your life easier given busy schedules by taking care of any type of odd job or household task that needs to get done...done right…and done now.
Founded by the community, for the community, the company prides itself on excellent customer service, flexibility, and reliability. Since 2014, An Extra Hand has commercialized their entire operation to provide the most professional experience. Since they first realized this opportunity, they have made a difference in over 1000 people's lives.
